[vc_row row_type=”row” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]Article written by Daniel Demaras www.demaras.com   K1 Speed’s “September Speed Challenge” has now drawn to a close after a high-speed month of quick drivers and lightning fast times. While competition was tough all throughout the month, one driver soared above the rest to sweep the entire competition, winning every week!   In the first week of September, only two tenths of a second separated the top five quickest drivers, with just 0.15 seconds giving Anatoli Gourouchkine the edge over Kevin Schinina’s 23.687 second lap. Christopher Wahl ended the week off in third ahead of Connor Dudgeon. Steven Zaina finished just 0.002 seconds off Dudgeon for fifth place. Already in week one, lap times were close.   Anatoli went even quicker in the second week, coming across the line with a 23.214, a full two tenths over Adrian Chereji in second. Only 0.05 seconds separated second place through fifth place, with Tiago Botelho, David Lai and Chaim Benyaminov all setting fast laps.   On week three of the “September Speed Challenge” the competition tightened up with Jason Wong nearly reaching the top spot, but nobody could top Anatoli who set a 23.282 second lap. After Wong in second was Chaim Benyaminov in third, Tiago Botelho in fourth followed by Thomas Mak with a 23.508 second lap.   In the fourth week, Anatoli topped the timesheets yet again, going 0.07 seconds faster than Chaim Benyaminov in second. Tiago Botelho ended off the week in third, Steven Zaina returned to the top five with fourth place, with Glen Wylie setting the fifth best time of the week.   In the fifth and final week, Anatoli Gourouchkine set his fastest time yet, clocking in an incredible 23.174, only three hundredths of a second off the K1 Speed Toronto all-time lap record! After winning every week and setting the overall best time, Anatoli Gourouchkine won the maximum of 10 free races! With the upcoming “K1NG of Speed” challenge, we’ll see if anyone can topple Anatoli, all while more high speed excitement goes down at Canada’s premier indoor karting facility, K1 Speed Toronto.   Daniel Demaras is a 15-year-old karting enthusiast who shares his passion for karting on both the outdoor and indoor tracks, including K1 Speed.
